TOS - Thoracic Outlet Syndrome

Neuromuscular Deep Tissue Massage can reduce your Thoracic Outlet syndrome (TOS and much more.  Repetitive motion from sports, muscle fatigue decreases proper circulation to these areas can cause deep aches, throbbing, tingling, numbness, spasming, shooting pain in the neck, spine, arms and hands.  TOS may cause you to loose sleep and take a leave of absence from work.

NMDT reduces your need of prescription drugs.  NMDT reduces muscle tension in the neck, shoulders, spine and arms increasing flexibility, range of motion and strength.  The forward postural slump of the head, neck and shoulders is reduced.  You feel younger and more energy because the postural slump is reduced and the brain stem and spinal chord are not kinked as much.  NMDT reduces trapped blood and increases fresh blood circulation to all of these areas.

Thoracic Outlet Syndrome (TOS) is a group of distinct disorders producing signs and symptoms attributed to compression of nerves and blood vessels in the thoracic outlet region. Clinical signs and symptoms of TOS usually include pain in the neck and shoulder area and numbness and weakness in the arm/hand.

Risk factors for TOS may include trauma to the shoulder/neck, postural distortions, congenital anomalies (cervical rib and band syndrome). Epidemiologic studies have shown that TOS may be associated with certain occupations that involve working in a static position for prolonged periods of time as well as jobs involving heavy lifting.

A variety of other conditions may produce signs/symptoms that may be confused with TOS including carpal tunnel syndrome, cervical spine disease with nerve root compression, tumors of the spinal cord or brachial plexus, as well as a variety of other neuromuscular disorders.

The objectives of treatment of TOS include: 1) relieve the compression of the nerves and blood vessels in the thoracic outlet region; 2) control and minimize pain and other symptoms to the greatest extent possible; and 3) improve the patient's overall quality of life.  Source of report is Medifocus.
